FOOD DELIVERY APPS GET SCRUTINY

Posted on January 13 2018

The food delivery services companies such as Uber Eats, GrubHub and Amazon Prime are growing in popularity as the meal delivery services gain market share on in-store restaurant dining. But these third-party services are operating without any oversight, prompting the TRA to initiate discussions with the services and head off legislation.

Not only are there no specific regulations on this, no states have addressed food delivery on a state-wide level. Liability issues over missing or mishandled food, and confusion created by pricing changes made by delivery services need to be addressed to ensure that restaurant customers get what they order and that restaurants are properly protected in case things do happen.
