Position Summary
This is a territory-based outside sales role responsible for building new business, strengthening existing client relationships, and promoting Superior’s broad portfolio of equipment, smallwares, supplies, and solutions.
Your mission is to help customers succeed—from independent restaurants to institutions—while achieving sales and profit targets. You will operate with autonomy, backed by a highly supportive operations, warehouse, and purchasing team.
Some early-morning, evening, or occasional weekend customer needs or events may apply.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Territory Growth
- Prospect, qualify, and close new accounts using a proactive sales approach.
- Expand revenue within existing accounts and prevent competitive losses.
- Develop an understanding of each customer’s operation, menu, and growth priorities.
- Recommend equipment and product solutions tailored to each business.
Customer Relationship Management
- Build long-term, trust-based relationships with owners, chefs, managers, and procurement teams.
- Serve as a consultant, providing product expertise, pricing strategies, and operational recommendations.
- Conduct site visits, product demos, and equipment evaluations (with support from our Test Kitchen).
Market & Product Expertise
- Stay informed on industry trends, new equipment innovations, and competitor offerings.
- Communicate value-added insights that strengthen customer loyalty.
- Train customer teams on equipment use, care, and product knowledge.
Operational & Administrative Duties
- Manage quotes, bids, pricing, and proposal preparation.
- Coordinate logistics and fulfillment with the warehouse and delivery teams.
- Assist with accounts receivable follow-up when needed.
- Review weekly sales and margin reports to optimize performance.
- Participate in sales meetings, training sessions, and Superior-hosted events.
- Support onboarding and mentorship of new team members when requested.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree OR 3+ years of experience in:
- Outside sales
- Restaurant management
- Culinary/foodservice operations
- Hospitality leadership
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- Personal vehicle and current auto insurance
- Ability to work independently and manage territory travel
Preferred
- Foodservice or equipment sales experience
- Culinary background or restaurant operations knowledge
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a strong plus
