Looking for a fun and educational outing for your Seniors Scout troop to learn a life skill? We’ve designed a series of cooking programs for the Seniors Scouts. During these hands-on cooking sessions your Seniors Scouts have the opportunity to experience a variety of cooking methods as they create delicious healthy meals. They will work with our pro chefs to learn how to measure and mix ingredients, use a variety of kitchen tools, follow recipes, learn the basics of etiquette, nutrition, food safety and more! to measure, mix and prepare delicious (and healthy) meals and snacks – all while they complete steps toward earning their Merit Cooking Badge.
Locavore Senior Scout Badge Event Description: This badge is designed to introduce the girls to the concept of organic and local farm fresh food. A Locavore is someone committed to eating locally grown, seasonal foods. The efforts of locavores can be important and delicious steps toward healthful eating, helping the environment and supporting local farmers. Learn subsequent steps that involve more complex cooking tasks: creating two salads with local fruits and vegetables, taking a family recipe and making it with local ingredients, and finally preparing a three-course meal or making a more complicated dish like pasta from scratch.

What to Expect: Great cooking is about more than recipes—it's about techniques. In our classes your kids will work together with other students in a fun, hands-on environment led by our professional chef instructors.
Active participation—your child will be standing, cooking and working for most of the class
Please have students wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes and have long hair tied back
Experienced staff to instruct and assist. A 3 hour hands-on cooking experience that includes three recipes and a welcome party drink.
